History of Germany Home

Current Articles

This website collates material relating to the history of Germany, from the Pre-Roman to post-WWII. Each article will contain either primary source material (scans of original documents), period photographs, and/or contemporary photos of interesting historical destinations.

We know we don't display the most cutting edge design -- we're trying to spend our time getting original material up rather than putting it on Flash or writing a soundtrack, and hope the material is of some use even if not beautiful.

The website is free, of course, and is sponsored by www.gothicstamps.com and www.germanpostalhistory.com. In the off chance that you're one of the few people left in the world that collects German, Austrian or Italian stamps and postal history, please stop on by one of those sites sometime.

Books this month (November 2008):

Just read, and liked, 'The Siege of Vienna'. It's hard to find good english language history of this period in European history, since none of it directly affected the US or Britain.
