Rothenburg Torture Protocol

The original 'protocol' of the confession under torture of one Catharina Ranzebach in 1656, from Shoenigen, Braunschweig. She was accused of being the Devil's Mistress (a witch), was tortured, confessed, recanted, was tortured and confessed again. She was then burned at the stake. That'll teach her. The faculty of the University of Helmstadt made the report. An interesting document that shows (not that we need such proof) that people will admit to anything if you hurt them enough. This is the logical, not humanitarian, argument against torture. Why ask the question if you won't believe the answer?
